Purpose
The Confirmation Preparation Program instills the value of service that flows from the regular practice of our Catholic faith, which is an essential part of being a member of the Catholic Church. Our program seeks to nurture the spiritual growth and development of the students as they prepare for full initiation into the Catholic Church. |
Requirements
1) A commitment to develop and nurture his/her relationship with God through prayer. |
Service Hours
During the first year, the student must fulfill 10 hours of service: 5 hours in the Church community and 5 hours in the community at large. |
Sponsor
Each Confirmation Candidate will choose a sponsor, which must be an active Roman Catholic who has received all three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation). It is desirable for the sponsor to live near the Candidate so that they can partner during the preparation and the sponsor can serve as a role model to the Candidate. The sponsor should be someone other than one of the parents and mature enough in age to fulfill the responsibility (18 years of age or older). |
Confirmation Name
Each Confirmation Candidate will choose a name of a saint recognized by the Catholic Church. This can be a baptismal name, as long as it is of a saint as described above. Students will receive a list to help with their selection. The life of the chosen saint represents a role model for the Confirmation Candidate; someone the Candidate chooses to imitate. |
